Johnny Cash

I've recently been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash, partly due to my recent mission to collect all of the American Recordings projects that he did toward the end of his life (some released posthumously). Johnny Cash has always been an artist I keep coming back to over the years, but I've only recently been exploring more of his catalog. While his older recordings are interesting and were well placed in their time (e.g. I Walk the Line, At Folsom Prison, At San Quentin), I've found that I prefer the more minimal, pared down style of the American recordings.

Some of my favorite songs from these sessions are:

American Recordings

Unchained

American III: Solitary Man

American IV: The Man Comes Around

American V: A Hundred Highways

American VI: Ain't no Grave
